CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS PRICE INDEX

May  2008

 
       The Ministry of Commerce would like to report the movements of Construction Materials Price Index in May 2008 as follows :
The Construction Materials Price Index is compiled on a monthly basis based on the prices of goods surveyed in Bangkok Metropolis for 88 items covering group of lumber and wood products, group of cement, group of concrete ingredient, group of iron products, group of tiles, group of paints, group of sanitary ware, group of electrical and plumbing and group of others construction materials.
       1. Construction Materials Price Index in May 2008
       The Construction Materials Price Index for 2000 which is the base year equal to 100 and for May 2008 is 170.5 , for April 2008 the Construction Materials Price Index is 159.0 .
       2. The Percentage Changes of the Construction Materials Price Index are
       as follows :
       2.1 May 2008 compared with April 2008 increased 7.2 percent.
       2.2 May 2008 compared with May 2007 increased 26.5 percent.
       2.3 The first fifth months (January - May) of 2008 compared with same period of 2007 increased 17.3 percent.
      
       3. The Construction Materials Price Index in May 2008 compared
       with April 2008 increased by 7.2 percent (April 2008 increased by 2.8 percent) was due mainly to the increased in prices index of group of iron products 16.0 percent which was the production cost (import row materials and fuel oil) increased group of cement 1.3 percent and group of concrete ingredient 1.2 percent
      
       4. The Construction Materials Price Index in May 2008 compared with May 2007 increased by 26.5 percent (April 2008 increased by 18.1 percent) which is the result of the prices index for group of iron products , group of lumber and wood products and group of cement increased 67.2 , 10.1 and 7.2 percent respectively .
      
       5. The Construction Materials Price Index in the first fifth months (January - May) of 2008 compared with the same period of 2007 increased by 17.3 percent (January - April 2008 increased by 14.9 percent) which is the result of the prices index for group of iron products increased 44.7 percent , group of lumber and wood products increased 5.9 percent and group of sanitary ware increased 5.0 percent respectively
