Producer Price Index

  June  2017 and first six months of Year   2017
 
      Producer Price Index : Classification of Products by Activity (CPA)
June 2017
      
       Ministry of Commerce reported the movement of producer price index of Thailand in June 2017.
       The producer price index is compiled from the survey and evaluation on prices of 596 items collected from farmers, entrepreneurs, and nationwide producers. The index covers 3 product categories - agricultural, mining, and manufacturing products. Figures are summarized as follows.
      
       1. The producer price index in June 2017 was 101.4 (PPI in May 2017 was 102.3 and year 2010 = 100).
      
       2. The producer price index in June 2017 compared to those in
       2.1) May 2017: The index decreased 0.9 percent.
       2.2) June 2016: The index went down 1.2 percent.
       2.3) the average of year 2017 (January - June 2017) compared to one in the same period in 2016: The average index increased 1.6 percent.
      
       3. The producer price index in June 2017 compared to one in the previous month (May 2017) decreased 0.9 percent mainly due to the price indexes of the agricultural products moved down 1.7 percent, the mining products decreased 2.1 percent and the manufacturing products declined 0.7 percent.
       3.1) Agricultural products prices index went down 1.7 percent from one in the previous month (May 2017, its index moved down 1.1 percent) mainly due to Crop product, Live animals and animal products, Fish and aquatics animals products.
       3.2) Mining products prices index moved down 2.1 percent (May 2017, decreased 0.7 percent), mainly due to the global price of crude oil and non-ferrous metal ores.
       3.3) Manufacturing products prices index declined 0.7 percent (May 2017, moved down 0.4 percent), mainly as a result of Food products, Petroleum products, Chemicals, chemical products, Rubber and plastic products, Electrical equipments.
      
       4. The producer price index in June 2017 compared to one in June 2016 decreased 1.2 percent, principally due to agricultural products went down 6.4 percent as a result of crop product (-7.4 percent), live animals and animal products (-6.0 percent) ,fish and aquatics animals products (-0.1 percent) ; the manufacturing products declined 0.5 percent mainly due to food products, beverages & tobacco (-3.1 percent), wood and wood products (-0.2 percent), Non- metallic mineral products(-1.5 percent), Electrical equipment (-0.6 percent), Other manufactured goods (-1.0 percent), while the mining products index increased 0.1 percent mainly due to metal ores and other mining (3.3 percent).
       5. Average 6 months of Producer Price Index (January - June 2017) compared to the same period of 2016 increased 1.6 percent, principally due to agricultural products increased 1.3 percent as a result of crop product (1.4 percent), fish and aquatics animals products (5.9 percent) ; the mining products moved up 2.6 percent due to lignite , petroleum & natural gas (2.4 percent) and Metal ores and other mining (3.7 percent) ; the manufacturing products went up 1.7 percent due to the increase of textiles and textiles products (0.2 percent), wood and wood products (0.7 percent), pulp, paper, paper products (0.4 percent), petroleum products (21.1 percent), chemicals and chemical products (2.3 percent), rubber and plastic products (8.9 percent), basic metals and fabricated metal products (0.9 percent), transport equipment (0.2 percent) and other manufactured goods (0.1 percent).

       Producer Price Index: Stage of Processing (SOP): June 2017
       Ministry of Commerce reported the movement of producer price index of Thailand for June 2017.
       The producer price index is compiled from surveys and evaluation on prices of 596 items collected from farmers, entrepreneurs, and nationwide producers. The index covers 3 product categories - finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods. Figures are summarized as follows.
      
       1. The producer price index in June 2017 (PPI in 2010 = 100): For finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods were 103.7, 98.6 and 94.2 respectively.
      
       2. The producer price index in June 2017 compared to those in
       2.1) May 2017: The index of finished goods decreased 0.2 percent, intermediate goods index declined 1.9 percent, and crude goods index moved down 2.3 percent.
       2.2) June 2016: The index of finished goods declined 1.3 percent, intermediate goods index moved down 0.3 percent and crude goods index fell 2.6 percent.
       2.3) Average 6 months of 2017 (January - June 2017) compared to the same period (January - June 2016) : The index of finished goods decreased 0.2 percent, while intermediate goods and crude goods increased by 5.1 and 4.1 percent respectively.
      
       3. The producer price index in June 2017 compared to one in the previous month (May 2017) :
       3.1) Finished goods decreased 0.2 percent, mainly due to the index of finished consumer goods moved down 0.3 percent while capital equipment was unchanged.
       3.2) Intermediate materials goods declined 1.9 percent as a result of the price index of intermediate materials for industry moved down 2.4 percent, while intermediate construction goods was unchanged.
       3.3) Crude goods moved down 2.3 percent due to the crude nonfood materials declined 5.2 percent while crude materials for food was unchanged.
      
       4. Producer Price Index in June 2017 compared to one in June 2016 :
       4.1) Finished goods price index moved down 1.3 percent, mainly due to the finished consumer goods index decreased 1.6 percent and capital equipment went down 0.6 percent.
       4.2) Intermediate goods prices index decreased 0.3 percent as the prices of intermediate materials for industry went down 0.3 percent and Intermediate construction goods declined 0.3 percent.
       4.3) Crude materials decreased 2.6 percent because of crude materials for food fell by 6.9 percent, while crude nonfood materials moved up 3.1 percent.
      
       5. Average 6 months of producer price index (January - June 2017) compared to the same period of 2016:
       5.1) Finished goods price index decreased 0.2 percent due to the prices of capital equipment fell by 0.8 percent.
       5.2) Intermediate goods price index moved up 5.1 percent due to the price index of intermediate materials for industry and Intermediate construction goods moved up 6.6 percent and 0.2 percent respectively.
       5.3) Crude materials price index increased 4.1 percent as a result of crude nonfood materials moved up 15.0 percent while crude materials for food fell by 3.6 percent.
