Producer Price Index : Classification of Products by Activity (CPA)
April 2017
Ministry of Commerce reported the movement of producer price index of Thailand in April 2017.
The producer price index is compiled from the survey and evaluation on prices of 596 items collected from farmers, entrepreneurs, and nationwide producers. The index covers 3 product categories - agricultural, mining, and manufacturing products. Figures are summarized as follows.
1. The producer price index in April 2017 was 102.8 (PPI in March 2017 was 103.0 and year 2010 = 100).
2. The producer price index in April 2017 compared to those in
2.1) March 2017: The index decreased 0.2 percent.
2.2) April 2016: The index moved up 1.7 percent.
2.3) the average of year 2017 (January - April 2017) compared to one in the same period in 2016: The average index increased 2.8 percent.
3. The producer price index in April 2017 compared to one in the previous month (March 2017) decreased 0.2 percent mainly due to the price indexes of the agricultural products moved down 1.0 percent, the mining products decreased 0.6 percent and the manufacturing products declined 0.1 percent.
3.1) Agricultural products prices index went down 1.0 percent from one in the previous month (March 2017, its index moved down 2.7 percent) mainly due to crop product, live animals and animal products, fish and aquatics animals products .
3.2) Mining products prices index moved down 0.6 percent (March 2017, increased 0.7 percent), mainly due to the global price of natural gas.
3.3) Manufacturing products prices index declined 0.1 percent (March 2017, moved down 0.5 percent), mainly as a result of Food products, beverages & tobacco, Textiles and textiles products, Petroleum products, Chemicals, chemical products, Rubber and plastic products, Non-metallic mineral products and Electrical equipment.
4. The producer price index in April 2017 compared to one in April 2016 increased 1.7 percent, principally due to agricultural products increased 0.6 percent as a result of crop product (0.3 percent), fish and aquatics animals products (6.0 percent); the mining products, its index increased 2.9 percent mainly due to lignite, petroleum and natural gas (2.7 percent), metal ores and other mining (3.9 percent) ; the manufacturing products went up 1.8 percent mainly due to textiles and textiles products (0.1 percent), wood and wood products (1.4 percent), Pulp, paper, paper products (0.5 percent) , petroleum products (24.0 percent), chemicals and chemical products (2.4 percent), rubber and plastic products (5.7 percent), basic metals and fabricated metal products (0.9 percent) , transport equipment (0.2 percent) and other manufactured goods (0.3 percent).
5. Average 4 months of Producer Price Index (January - April 2017) compared to the same period of 2016 increased 2.8 percent, principally due to agricultural products increased 5.2 percent as a result of crop product (6.3 percent), fish and aquatics animals products (8.2 percent) ; the mining products moved up 3.2 percent due to lignite , petroleum & natural gas (3.1 percent) and Metal ores and other mining (3.9 percent) ; the manufacturing products went up 2.5 percent due to the increase of textiles and textiles products (0.3 percent), wood and wood products (0.9 percent), Pulp, paper, paper products (0.2 percent), petroleum products (29.6 percent), chemicals and chemical products (2.9 percent), rubber and plastic products (11.9 percent), basic metals and fabricated metal products (1.1 percent), transport equipment (0.2 percent) and other manufactured goods (0.7 percent).

Producer Price Index: Stage of Processing (SOP): April 2017
Ministry of Commerce reported the movement of producer price index of Thailand for April 2017.
The producer price index is compiled from surveys and evaluation on prices of 596 items collected from farmers, entrepreneurs, and nationwide producers. The index covers 3 product categories - finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods. Figures are summarized as follows.
1. The producer price index in April 2017 (PPI in 2010 = 100): For finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods were 104.1, 101.5 and 96.9 respectively.
2. The producer price index in April 2017 compared to those in
2.1) March 2017: The index of finished goods increased 0.2 percent, intermediate goods index declined 0.8 percent, and crude goods index moved down 2.2 percent.
2.2) April 2016: The index of finished goods was unchanged, intermediate goods index moved up 5.2 percent and crude goods index edged up 2.6 percent.
2.3) Average 4 months of 2017 (January - April 2017) compared to the same period (January - April 2016): The index of finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods increased by 0.4, 7.4 and 7.4 percent respectively.
3. The producer price index in April 2017 compared to one in the previous month (March 2017) :
3.1) Finished goods increased 0.2 percent, mainly due to the index of finished consumer goods moved up 0.5 percent while capital equipment declined 0.2 percent.
3.2) Intermediate materials goods declined 0.8 percent as a result of the price index of intermediate materials for industry moved down 1.0 percent, and intermediate construction goods decreased 0.2 percent.
3.3) Crude goods moved down 2.2 percent due to the crude materials for food and crude nonfood materials fell by 1.9 percent and 2.7 percent respectively.
4. Producer Price Index in April 2017 compared to one in April 2016 :
4.1) Finished goods price index was unchanged, however there were the movements in subgroups ; the finished consumer goods moved up 0.4 percent while capital equipment went down 0.7 percent.
4.2) Intermediate goods prices index increased 5.2 percent as the prices of intermediate materials for industry and Intermediate construction goods moved up 6.6 percent and 0.2 percent respectively.
4.3) Crude materials increased 2.6 percent because of crude nonfood materials moved up 12.4 percent while crude materials for food fell by 4.5 percent.
5. Average 4 months of producer price index (January - April 2017) compared to the same period of 2016:
5.1) Finished goods price index increased 0.4 percent due to the prices of finished consumer goods moved up 1.0 percent while capital equipment fell by 0.8 percent.
5.2) Intermediate goods price index moved up 7.4 percent due to the price index of intermediate materials for industry and Intermediate construction goods moved up 9.3 percent and 0.4 percent respectively.
5.3) Crude materials price index increased 7.4 percent as a result of crude nonfood materials moved up 20.7 percent while crude materials for food fell by 2.2 percent.
