Producer Price Index

  March  2018 and first quarter of Year   2018
 
      Producer Price Index : Classification of Products by Activity (CPA)
March 2018
      
       Ministry of Commerce reported the movement of producer price index of Thailand in March 2018.
       The producer price index is compiled from the survey and evaluation on prices of 596 items collected from farmers, entrepreneurs, and nationwide producers. The index covers 3 product categories - agricultural, mining, and manufacturing products. Figures are summarized as follows.
      
       1. The producer price index in March 2018 was 101.6 (PPI in February 2018 was 101.7 and year 2010 = 100).
      
       2. The producer price index in March 2018 compared to those in
       2.1) February 2018: The index decreased by 0.1 percent (MoM).
       2.2) March 2017: The index moved down 1.4 percent (YoY).
       2.3) the average of year 2018 (January - March 2018) compared to one in the same period in 2017: The average index declined by 1.5 percent.
      
       3. The producer price index in March 2018 compared to one in the previous month (February 2018) went down 0.1 percent mainly due to the price indexes of the manufacturing products and the mining products fell by 0.1 percent and 1.0 percent respectively, while the agricultural products increased by 0.4 percent.
       3.1) Manufacturing products prices index decreased by 0.1 percent (February 2018, moved down 0.4 percent), mainly as a result of Wood and wood products, Petroleum products, Non-metallic mineral products, Electrical equipment and Other manufactured goods.
       3.2) Mining products prices index moved down 1.0 percent (February 2018, the index rose by 0.6 percent), mainly due to Lignite, petroleum & natural gas and Metal ores and other mining decreased by 1.2 percent and 0.2 percent respectively.
       3.3) Agricultural products prices index went up 0.4 percent from one in the previous month (February 2018, its index increased by 0.7 percent) mainly due to Crop products, Fish and aquatics animal products edged up 0.6 percent and 1.4 percent respectively.
      
       4. The producer price index in March 2018 compared to one in March 2017 decreased 1.4 percent, principally due to the Agricultural products index fell by 4.4 percent as a result of Crop products (-4.1 percent), Live animals and animal products (-8.9 percent), Fish and aquatics animal products (-1.2 percent), and the manufacturing products index went down 1.0 percent mainly due to Food products, beverages & tobacco (-1.4 percent), Textiles and textiles products (-0.2 percent), Wood and wood products (-1.3 percent), Rubber and plastic products (-8.2 percent), Electrical equipment (-2.9 percent), Transport equipment (-0.1 percent) and Other manufactured goods (-1.2 percent).
       5. Average 3 months of Producer Price Index (January - March 2018) compared to the same period of 2017 decreased by 1.5 percent, mainly due to the Agricultural products index fell by 6.1 percent as a result of Crop products (-6.5 percent), Live animals and animal products (-8.7 percent), Fish and aquatics animal products (-0.4 percent) and the manufacturing products went down 0.9 percent due to the decrease of Food products, beverages & tobacco (-1.8 percent), Textiles and textiles products (0.1 percent), Wood and wood products (-0.8 percent), Rubber and plastic products (-10.0 percent), Electrical equipment (-2.8 percent), Transport equipment (-0.1 percent) and Other manufactured goods (-0.5 percent).

       Producer Price Index: Stage of Processing (SOP): March 2018
       Ministry of Commerce reported the movement of producer price index of Thailand for March 2018.
       The producer price index is compiled from surveys and evaluation on prices of 596 items collected from farmers, entrepreneurs, and nationwide producers. The index covers 3 product categories - finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods. Figures are summarized as follows.
      
       1. The producer price index in March 2018 (PPI in 2010 = 100): For finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods were 102.7, 101.1 and 95.6 respectively.
      
       2. The producer price index in March 2018 compared to those in
       2.1) February 2018: The index of finished goods decreased by 0.1 percent and crude goods index moved down 0.1 percent while intermediate goods index was unchanged.
       2.2) March 2017: The index of finished goods went down 1.2 percent, intermediate goods index fell by 1.2 percent and crude goods index declined by 3.5 percent.
       2.3) Average 3 months of 2018 (January - March 2018) compared to the same period (January - March 2017): The index of finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods decreased by 1.2 percent, 1.0 percent and 4.8 percent respectively.
       3. The producer price index in March 2018 compared to one in the previous month (February 2018) :
       3.1) Finished goods index decreased by 0.1 percent, mainly due to the index of finished consumer goods went down by 0.1 percent and capital equipment dropped by 0.1 percent respectively.
       3.2) Intermediate materials goods index was unchanged, however there were movements in some subgroups ; Intermediate foods and feeds edged up 0.7 percent, while Intermediate materials less foods fell by 0.1 percent. Furthermore, intermediate construction goods increased by 0.1 percent.
       3.3) Crude goods index moved down by 0.1 percent due to the crude materials for food declined by 0.4 percent.
      
       4. Producer Price Index in March 2018 compared to one in March 2017:
       4.1) Finished goods price index moved down by 1.2 percent, mainly due to the finished consumer goods index dropped by 0.3 percent and the capital equipment index declined 2.9 percent.
       4.2) Intermediate goods prices index declined by 1.2 percent as the prices of Intermediate materials for industry went down by 1.7 percent, while Intermediate construction goods increased by 0.7 percent.
       4.3) Crude materials decreased by 3.5 percent as the prices of crude nonfood materials moved down 11.0 percent, while crude materials for food edged up 3.1 percent.
       5. Average 3 months of producer price index (January - March 2018) compared to the same period of 2017:
       5.1) Finished goods price index decreased by 1.2 percent due to the prices of finished consumer goods and capital equipment fell by 0.5 percent and 2.8 percent respectively.
       5.2) Intermediate goods price index moved down by 1.0 percent due to the price index of intermediate materials for industry decreased by 1.5 percent, while Intermediate construction goods moved up by 0.7 percent respectively.
       5.3) Crude materials price index decreased by 4.8 percent as a result of crude nonfood materials moved down 12.3 percent while crude materials for food increased by 1.9 percent.
