      Producer Price Index : Classification of Products by Activity (CPA)
January 2017
      
       Ministry of Commerce reported the movement of producer price index of Thailand in January 2017.
       The producer price index is compiled from the survey and evaluation on prices of 596 items collected from farmers, entrepreneurs, and nationwide producers. The index covers 3 product categories - agricultural, mining, and manufacturing products. Figures are summarized as follows.
      
       1. The producer price index in January 2017 was 103.0 (PPI in December 2016 was 102.1 and year 2010 = 100).
      
       2. The producer price index in January 2017 compared to those in
       2.1) December 2016: The index increased 0.9 percent.
       2.2) January 2016: The index moved up 3.1 percent.
      
       3. The producer price index in January 2017 compared to one in the previous month (December 2016) increased 0.9 percent mainly due to the price indexes of the agricultural products moved up 2.9 percent, the mining products increased 1.5 percent and the manufacturing products edged up 0.5 percent.
       3.1) Agricultural products prices index rose by 2.9 percent from one in the previous month (December 2016, its index moved up 2.7 percent) mainly due to crop product, live animals and animal products, fish and aquatics animals products.
       3.2) Mining products prices index moved up 1.5 percent (December 2016, increased 4.0 percent), mainly due to the global price of crude oil and other metal ores.
       3.3) Manufacturing products prices index went up 0.5 percent (December 2016, increased 0.6 percent), mainly as a result of Pulp, paper, paper products and printing, Petroleum products, Chemicals and chemical products, Rubber and plastic products, Non-metallic mineral products, Basic metals and fabricated metal products, Transport equipment, Other manufactured goods (gold).
       4. The producer price index in January 2017 compared to one in January 2016 increased 3.1 percent, principally due to agricultural products increased 8.0 percent as a result of crop product (9.8 percent), fish and aquatics animals products (9.1 percent); the mining products, its indexes increased 1.0 percent mainly due to lignite, petroleum and natural gas (0.6 percent), metal ores and other mining (4.0 percent) ; the manufacturing products went up 2.6 percent mainly due to textiles and textiles products (0.2 percent), wood and wood Products (0.9 percent), petroleum products (28.1 percent), chemicals and chemical products (2.3 percent), rubber and plastic products (14.2 percent), basic metals and fabricated metal products (0.5 percent), transport equipment (0.2 percent) and other manufactured goods (2.8 percent).

       Producer Price Index: Stage of Processing (SOP): January 2017
       Ministry of Commerce reported the movement of producer price index of Thailand for January 2017.
       The producer price index is compiled from surveys and evaluation on prices of 596 items collected from farmers, entrepreneurs, and nationwide producers. The index covers 3 product categories - finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods. Figures are summarized as follows.
      
       1. The producer price index in January 2017 (PPI in 2010 = 100): For finished goods, intermediate goods and crude goods were 104.2, 101.4 and 99.3 respectively.
      
       2. The producer price index in January 2017 compared to those in
       2.1) December 2016: The index of finished goods increased 0.1 percent, intermediate goods index moved up 1.6 percent and crude goods index edged up 3.9 percent.
       2.2) January 2016: The index of finished goods increased 0.8 percent, intermediate goods index moved up 7.2 percent and crude goods index rose 8.1 percent.
      
       3. The producer price index in January 2017 compared to one in the previous month (December 2016):
       3.1) Finished goods went up 0.1 percent as a result of the finished consumer goods increased 0.2 percent while capital equipment went down 0.1 percent.
       3.2) Intermediate materials goods increased 1.6 percent as a result of the price index of Intermediate materials for industry and Intermediate construction goods moved up 1.9 percent and 0.4 percent respectively.
       3.3) Crude goods increased 3.9 percent due to the crude materials for food (1.5 percent) and crude nonfood materials (6.8 percent).
      
       4. Producer Price Index in January 2017 compared to one in January 2016 :
       4.1) Finished goods price index edged up 0.8 percent, mainly due to finished consumer goods moved up 1.6 percent while capital equipment went down 0.8 percent.
       4.2) Intermediate goods prices index moved up 7.2 percent as the prices of intermediate materials for industry rose 9.3 percent.
       4.3) Crude materials increased 8.1 percent because of crude nonfood materials moved up 22.1 percent while crude materials for food fell 1.8 percent.
